Barkley Blah!

The first time I started a blog, it was because I had something to say, hence the turningsixty blog was born. Then I started the MyBookBlog, an ongoing project to help me write 'The Book'.
Now, this one looks like being a "Sometimes Journal", definitely a reflection of the current pace of my life.

Ever had a chance to listen to a tree?

This one is special.. you can put your ear to the trunk and hear the noises the tree makes. I think it must be the sounds of water being taken up the trunk. Very Interesting.

There are a few bird calls on the audio. I captured the sound by putting my digital camera video against the trunk.

Hi Della
Very interesting sounds with lovely contrasting bird calls in the background. You would be interested to know Scientists have placed microphones close to the trunks of trees and recorded varying tree sounds with different tree species. Tree symphony !!

All trees make sounds since vibrating tree molecules – (its cause) are heard (but not usually to the human ear) in the form of those vibrations (its effect) providing the vibrations are within our limited human audio range.

The sounds you hear may be from both the interaction of branches and leaves caused by wind and sap (which would possibly be a more subtle sound to our ears) resonated in the trunk of the tree.

Best wishes

Now that's fascinating. I think trees do talk to us...hence hugging a tree is good for our psyche.
