html,xhtml, css, ids,classes, css2, doctypes, tag soup - ?#*&!

It has been over a week since I have had time to blog anything other than millies birthday card, partly because finding millie has taken me to visit a stream of sites and bloggers I had not visited before. Thanks to MyMomsBlog (now on the blogroll) and Steve Garfield who introduced me.

I also found Judith at NOT DEAD YET! who, blogging her heart out at age 79, has lots of wonderful stories and things to show us...

But mostly, and to get back to the subject, I have been working on my turningsixty website. I am SO glad that I decided to make the website my first project, before I set up this blog. A few things needed to be finished. I have been doing bits and pieces here and there. Lately I have been having some problems with the pages viewing properly in Firefox and it had reached the stage where I had to do something about it.

So for the last week I have been scouring forums and help groups, and reading tutorials and trying to get my head around the differences in how browsers see things. So far as I know, as of this moment, everything is working as it should be. Here’s hoping!

The pictures are of my avocado tree in bloom. This is the most bloom I have ever seen on the tree. Not that it ever gives us avocados, well thats not true, we have had about 2 full seasons in the last 10 years, other years we get only a handful of fruit, but the ones we get are lovely to have.

I am told it is not really a coastal tree, but I have seen them really large and they make great shade trees, so this one lives. Plus it is a great place to hang the birdbath, which attracts a never-ending parade of birds for us to watch at play.

Duncan at Ben Cruachan Blog was saying that spring is nearly here, and that he has magpies nesting already. I think we are in for a long-hot-summer.Here’s hoping!

Avocadoes, yuummm! I bought three the other day and on

e is ready to eat, so I'm gonna! You sound as if you have been very busy with your website, as for html - I need html for dummies and then I wouldn't be surprised if I still stuffed it up lol.

Take care

Hello Della ~~Nice to hear from you. Last week's football was a strange one
with quite a few upsets. Not many more games to go. I think Winter has gone for this year, and I am not sorry.
Fancy blogging at 81 and 79. Wow !!
Take care, Merle.

I've got avocadoes coming out of my ears up here...well, not quite...if you know what I mean! ;) The mountain is full of trees loaded with fruit. Roadside stalls selling them at 3 for a dollar in some places but I don't need to buy any.

I'm glad to see the Broncos back on line...I'm a fan and hope they make it into the finals.

I'm one of the weirder ones...I love winter and am not looking forward to a long, hot summer. Too many years in the tropics and in hot, commercial kitchens, probably!

Thanks everybody, for visiting - puss - I like the 'for dummies' books, sometimes 'expert' books don't cover the basics as much as they should.

I'm with you Merle, I do not like to be cold, mind you, here on the Gold Coast that's not much of a problem, especially this year we have had hardly any winter weather at all.

Jeanette, yep, avocado on toast, with lots of butter and a little bit of salt and pepper - beats vegemite!

Lee, yes I love the roadside stalls, we always buy much more produce than 2 of us can eat. You are a match for Noel, he likes the winter too, suffers in the summer cos he is a BIG man..

Well, Della...our winters are really not cold...the early mornings might be a bit chilly but the days are glorious. I spent enough time up in the tropics, in the west and also cooking in hot commercial kitchens to last me three lifetimes...I guess that's why I now prefer winter. One can 'dress' in winter to keep warm...I 'undress' in summer in an effort to be cool...God help anyone who arrives unannounced! ;)

By the way, Della...if you visited the mountain last year during winter, you might have seen my roadside stall with pickled onions, chutney, jams and cakes adorning it. I got lazy this season and didn't stir any cooking pots!

Ah! Now I know what blogrolling is. I hadn't heard the phrase before. You're very welcome, Della, I can only be flattered. I am not good at adding links yet, but hope to add more to my blog soon.

Thanks for your wonderful steam loco sound track. That is the goods!

I'm beginning to get a feel for the 'community' aspect of blogging, but I need to master the technique of following the comments on other blogs as well as my own.
