cars I have loved
Well, that was a fun day. I went to the photo-boxes to look out some old car photos, that was, like, about 8 hours ago! Don't you just love going through the photo boxes... and of course now that I am blogging, I see many of the old photos with new eyes. It's a bit of a walk through your life, that's for sure. Anyway, found some of the cars - here they are:

1965
Volkswagon Beetle

1968
Triumph Herald

1973
Ford Capri
We had 2 at one stage,
His & Her Capris
That was fun

1975
Mini Cooper S.
(yeah!)

1984
Brock Special

1988
Mitsubish Colt 45
(went like the clappers!)

1993
Nissan 300ZX Turbo

- and this is what happened to my beautiful ZX

which is how I come to being driving
this... Holden - reliable, economical, blah!
so much for good advice,
I want my wheels back!

Hello Della ~~ You certainly have had
a variety of nice cars. Sorry about
your favourite, and hope you were not in it when it came to grief. Thank you
for adding "other" to the comment
section. I think it will work, we'll see very soon. Take care Della, I hope you had a great weekend. Cheers, Merle.
Hello again Della ~ Thank you for your comments on Third Try. I agree,
children must have some form of discipline and rules to live by. I do
feel sorry for the teachers these days
as they have a tough job. Cheers, Merle.
Just wanted to say hi. I am not sure if you are a baby boomer or not, but please come visit!
HI Merle,
Actually, I was in it! It was a fire, The car had recently had an overhaul of the air-conditioning system, and the fuel-injectors replaced. We don't know which caused the problem, it was the 1st time I had turned the air on since the work was done, and I was driving uphill on a very narrow road, with lots of traffic, when I heard this loud boom, looked into the rear-view window and saw clouds of black smoke behind me.
I barely made it up the hill, but when I stopped a wall of flame came over the windscreen. It was quite scary but I managed to get out okay. The damage was done by the fire brigade, they had to pry open the bonnet to get to the seat of the fire. In the end, they wrote the car off - in a way it was a good thing, I needed the money!
Rhea, I tried to visit, from your profile link, but your page doesn't display? thanks for visiting.. I was born in 1945, 1 year too early to be an official boomer, but the extra year gives me an edge, I reckon ::smiles::
Hi Della ~ What a frightening
experience for you, and I am so glad you got out safely. I just checked up at Herons Nest post that Peter put on
2nd update and noticed he had put an "s" after merle, so I have fixed it.
He has had so much trouble with my blogs that I don't blame him for a slip. Must check Third Try now to see
if it is the same. Take care Della,
and thanks for your comments. Merle.
Great photos but what an awful experience to be in a car that caught fire! Glad you had the presence of mind to stay calm.
Thank you for your comments on my blog, it was good to hear from you.
Take care
Robyn
I drove a Nissan 300ZX when I lived in Canada in the early '90s. It was about 10 years old and full of rust, but I just adored it.
About your Townsville pictures, I'd love to see them. If you can't post them, email me (purplegiraffes@gmail.com) and I'll send you my details.
Oh, and the sunbird - no superglue involved, she just likes me...?
Just popped in to say hi theres a few nice cars there. I had a Commodre about that vintage and also a nisson skyline .
Take care
Passages of time...
I wish my scanner was working, I'd show you some pics of the Goggomobile Dart....that was such a buzz...little 2-stroke motor, gear stick that you could use your knee to change gears, no doors...and in the time of the 'straight-skirts', sheaths, it was a traffic-stopper trying to get into it! The seats moved back and upwards to allow easier access. My boyfriend who was a radio announcer (and much later became my second husband...but that's another long story!)and I would drive to Brisbane in it...the dear little 'goggo' would lift off the ground when semi's passed it! It was a lot of fun. It was a sad day when the 'goggo' was sold to be replaced by an Austin-Healy Sprite. Many cars have come after that as have the years!
C'mon Della, fess up, nobody could love a Triumph Herald!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHA Peter, you are SO right. By the end that car had just about driven me mad, it had a habit of just stopping for a little rest in the most awkward places.
I had to laugh about your car stopping at the most awkard places....the 'goggo' used to do that on the highway to Brisbane from Gympie. So we'd trick it and take the old highway through Belli. Once it got to Brisbane it's motor would be racing so much, it wouldn't want to stop!
PS...it never stopped going via the Belli route! Work that one out! ;)
