funnies and food

now here’s some health-food advice I actually LIKE!

Eat To Live Longer

Salmon - omega-3, brain food, depression.
Dark Chocolate - blood pressure, antibiotic, stroke, guilty pleasure.
Macadamia nuts - energy, cholesterol, minerals, heart disease & weight.
Blueberries - antioxidants, memory, balance.
Yoghurt - osteoporosis, protein, bad breath.
Spinach - low-calorie, fibre, eyesight.

Red Delicious Apples - anti-carcinogenic, alzheimers, eat the skin.
Oats - fibre, vitamins, cholesterol, heart disease.
Soybeans - amino acids, heart and hormones.
Broccoli - eat it raw, best anti-carcinogenic.
From the Weekend Magazine [September 2, 2006]
of The Australian newspaper.

SOAPBOX

One of the things I hate about the internet is the sameness. I always have, and I’ve been doing websites now for a while. I only have 2 sites loaded at the moment, one is a Wedding Album I made for my son’s wedding - the other celebrates one of the achievements of my older sister Roberta. Both are different, I think.

I’ve done your regulation basic sort of sites, commercially and some not-for-pay work for an organisation I belong to, but what frustrates me is that every web page you go to has been designed in the mold of the current fashion. It’s always been like that. I really like the blog style of website, it’s interaction as it’s best - but for heavens sake, every website I go to these days is done blog-style, boring, boring, boring...

In the beginning, there was no ‘flash’ and no streaming media or blogs, no dreamweaver, even making sites these days is a no-brainer. For a while there everything was ‘frames’. And the colors - what is it at the moment, everybody seems to think light blue on lighter blue is sexy or something? (or whatever, but light on light, with a background of light - I give up when I have to strain to see what’s on the page)

on a lighter note:

hilarious!

Tanya from the purple giraffe has blogged about checking stats on visitors which included the search terms used by visitors to be given her site as a ‘match’. The results can be very funny -

‘pictures of piecing of the penis’
‘cheetah and teal bedroom stuff’
‘pictures of clean homes’
‘crocs with pantyhose’
‘picture of bird poop’

I’ve listed a few, you can see others and some funny comments on Tanya’s blog.

Della...Della...be nice...be kind to me...treat me gently! I'm sensitive! ;) My blog is probably on your 'boring list' as I have no frills and fancy bits! I'm brain-dead...it's a no- brainer! My blog may not look 'sexy' but I'll write about it if that will liven things up a bit! ;) hehehehe!

Hi Lee... no, no, no - I LOVE simple, don't get me wrong - it's the SAMENESS that bores me - when something becomes fashionable, then everybody does the same thing, and all the sites end up looking the same, with the same themes and patterns and things.

I like everything and anything, if it is well-done, I have very open criteria, I like what looks good, whether it's up-to-the-minute, or old-fashioned, or just plain different. I don't use flash and pop and scroll and blink very much myself, but I need to know how to do it so there is a little bit here and there.

The way I see a blog, is that it is about the CONTENT, and mostly the layout needs to follow a sensible pattern, so the style of a blog, is, well, blog-styled, but these days every web page you visit looks like a blog.

Where is the art?

Your blog is definitely NOT on my boring list, I love your stuff...

Oh yairs, I can go along with all of those, although the oats would have to be hidden in oatmeal cookies.

Hi,

Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog a while back, I must apologise for taking so long to get back to you.

Spinach - low-calorie, fibre, eyesight--in my country right now it's also a good source of e.coli.

Janice~
